Oops, I forgot to take a piccie before these were all gone....this morning I baked some Corn Flake Cookies. As I emptied the contents of this week's box of Corn Flakes into its Tupperware container (oh, who doesn't love Tupperware??), I noticed the cookie recipe on the side of the packet and it brought back some fabulous childhood memories of my visits to my paternal Grandmother, Nanna. She baked every weekend and often during the week as well so a visit to her house was very special. My dilemma with these though was that after ten minutes cooking time they were not cooked through, I was in a rush so I pulled them out after another two minutes thinking perhaps they'd further cook whilst resting. Nuh-uh, I was left with some soggy, not chewy style cookies. They were promptly polished off but a few "comments" were made. And one by my Dad struck a nerve, it went something like "Nanna's were always darker and firmer". I failed to produce.
I'm going to give them another run during the week and leave them in for a further five or ten minutes to test the recipe. I'm using an electric fan forced oven if you've got any other tips. Melody, the queen baker?
PS: I've moved across to this new version of Blogger too peoples, so far - so good!! Sshhh, I don't want to jinx myself yet.
Yummy! I remember cornflake biscuits :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new Blogger - I wish I had never switched, but you can't un-switch!
SF - it gave me no option, it was either switch or lose from my understanding :-(
