Scooting about blogs and various social media networks today I see many people talking about their intentions for the new year. I like that word, intentions. Doesn't it have a much better ring to it than resolutions? Almost like you should feel guilty for things that need to be resolved. I've never been one to muck about with resolutions but I must say I am going to write myself a list of intentions for the coming year.
The list will include words like travel, music, food, bake, cook, recipes, photography, books, release, renovate, beautify, engage, work, create, projects, motivation, network, meet, friends, write, health, plant, self-sustaining, beach, walk, rainforest and so many more that don't come to mind. It will list intentions for me as me and intentions for my family. After all, these past couple of years I have really learnt to embrace my being again so I deserve my own list. What a tremendous feeling that has been.
I just noticed I've been 'blogging' since 2005, reading and writing. I really enjoy the community of blogging and online life. I have been introduced to some beautiful souls. We haven't met but you still weave your way into my thoughts. I hurt a little bit when I know you're hurting and I feel great joy when you do too. So...thank you to those friends. I really do like just knowing you're there.
To see the new year in the Big Fella made a fantastic dinner for our family followed by pancakes. We drank a lovely bottle of Church Block and I was asleep just short of midnight. Just how I like it these days.
A quote about new year's eve I always giggle at, it's from Bill Vaughan:
An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.
I very much like this too as I firmly believe we should all make a commitment to our own bodies to eat food that is of the highest quality we can find or grow.
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas.
What about you....where are you headed in 2012?

I spotted you wearing a funky skirt ;)
ReplyDeleteI like that too - intentions. Your list sounds fab and I shall follow suit in my next blog post. I've 'known' you for yonks - I have a feeling our paths may just cross this year and we will finally meet face to face.
I hope 2012 is everything you want and more xx
